Excel has a massive amount of functionality and components. Just need the right triggers and measures to make the most benefit out of it. Here I will again present a few amazing excel tools which would be a terrific help for you to generate compelling reports.
Specifying user data type inputs in
excel columns means
that you can design a report where you can restrict users to enter precise data
types only in defined excel columns such as Date, number, time text length etc.
Here are the few steps you need to follow.
1. Go to the menu Tab and select Data. click on Data validation in the right top of the data bar (Refer to the below screenshot).
2. Next, a fresh window will appear on the screen. Choose the Validation Data type that you want to be specified (Refer to the below screenshot)
3. We
can also specify the Data range type from Data drop-down list (Refer to
the below image)
For
example, I want people to enter dates specific between 24-Jan-2022 to
31-Jan-2022 in the precise columns. Would pick Date option from the
drop-down list, and further, between option in Data and enter a date
range in the subsequent columns. (Refer to the below screenshot)
4. Further, you can add a warning type for the people on the columns, so they understand what to enter in the particular column. To do so, please click on Input Message on the top of the window and Add Title & Input message which you want to get appear as direction. For example, we have added Restricted Column in the Title and “Please enter data range between 22-Jan-2022-31-Jan-2022” in the Input Message ( Refer to the below Image).
5. Once done, press OK. That’s it, now it is prepared and would look something like this in the below screenshot while entering the data. Would not allow the user to enter any date other than defined in the rule.
Will throw this error if entered value exceeded defined rule
